What is required to import goods (gifts, figurines and other souvenirs) from the USA to the UK? The supplier asks for a Resale Permit/Tax ID. The company is new, VAT is not registered. Do they mean EORI number or some other document is needed? Thank you.

Hi I would suggest you ask your USA supplier what they want, it’s unlikely they are asking for UK import purposes. They need to declare an export out of the USA and you will declare the import into the UK. Guidance on importing into the UK is here. https://www.gov.uk/import-goods-into-uk

Hi Dmitrijs,
You may need an Economic Operators Registration and Identification number (EORI number) if you move goods into or out of UK. More information is available at the following link:
Get an EORI number: Who needs an EORI
Other documents may be required depending upon the goods you are looking to import, more information can be obtained from trade tariff UK.
Please see Trade Tariff: look up commodity codes, duty and VAT rates.
Thank you
