Ladies and Gentlemen, at first please apologize my poor english and the mistakes I will make due to that. I operate a small business in Germanyand and I do import wines and spirits from the UK to here. Unfortunately the british alcohol duty is paid on these goods and the wholesaler that I buy from refuses any help on getting this refunded. Does anybody here know whome to ask or which department of HMRC is responsible on this? Any help will be kindly appreciated. Kind regards, Volker I. Lipper

Hi vlipper Volker Lipper
Are these customs charges paid to German customs or UK customs? If goods are exported from UK to Germany, they will not incur customs charges by UK customs as these are exports.
Guidance available at: Check duties and customs procedures for exporting goods
Thank you

Hi HMRC Admin 13, thank you for asking. As written in my original post (and in the headline of the task) I am asking for british alcohol duty and not for any custom charges... The alcohol duty was paid by the producer if he resides in the UK and it is paid by the importer if not as far as I know. For the moment this is only a guess but I hope can find that out if it is important. In any case there is a stamp on the bottle that says it was paid. And that is what I am looking for. Is there any chances to get this refunded if the wholesellar refuses to take care of this? Thank you for taking care of this, V. Lipper
