I am currently living in Spain and will return in July.
I would like to post some appliances (Hoover, Air Fryer, Coffee machine, Pots & pans) back to the UK.
We will be flying back and are unable to bring these goods with us on the plane.
Can we still declare them as personal tax free goods if they are posted and if yes, how?
Thanks

Hi JamesShepherdss
You can get relief from customs charges due on personal belongings and other goods, when transferring your place of residence to:
• Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales)
• Northern Ireland from outside the EU
Transfer of residence to the UK
Thank you

I have a slightly different situation. I forgot my laptop in Austria and my friend wants to send it back to me in the UK. It's probably worth under £135 as it is over eight years old. Is this customs free and how does it need to be described?

The £135 limit is duty free but not VAT free so you would still get charged VAT on entry to the UK. You need to use the returned goods procedure so you should tell your friend to mention that the item is being returned to the UK. This gives relief from both duty and VAT . You may be asked for proof it’s a UK purchase or owned by you in the UK.
