Hello there, I may be considering living abroad and renting out my property. How will I be able to do tax returns if I am unable to use the gateway? Also, as the house is in both my and wife's name, the income can be split to reflect our respective tax allowance. Thank you

Hi,

Thank you for your question.

As you would be a non-resident landlord (link attached for guidance):

Non-UK resident landlords  ,

you would be required to file a paper Tax Return as you would need to file the SA109 Residence, remittance basic etc page as you are overseas. :

SA109 - 2023   .

As the property is part owned by yourself and your wife, then you would both declare your percentage of income
and any expenses incurred.

Thank you
