Hello, Can the 20% tax credit for landlord mortgage interest tax relief be claimed if one has received 'permission to let' from the mortgage lender and temporarily rented out one's main residence for a year? So the mortgage is not a buy-to-let mortgage, it is still a residential mortgage, but the property is temporarily being rented out. Thank you.

Hi CMG12 00,
Relief may be restricted in this case. I have attached the property income manaul reference PIM2056 which will answer your question
PIM2056 - Deductions: interest: restriction for income tax purposes from 2017/18: apportionment
Thank you.
