We are married, UK tax resident and we jointly own a property in Iceland which we are currently renting out to tenants. From our understanding, the income from that property is taxed 50/50 between us in the UK but in Iceland as we are married, only one of us is taxed on the rental income, usually the highest earner but as it is our only income there it could be any of of us. The question is, can we split 50/50 the tax paid in Iceland to claim as relief on each of our tax for that income in the UK?

Hi Chris,

Yes as you will also be splitting the income received.

Thank you.
