I had an electrician chang the battery smoke alarms for hard wired smoke alarms and add carbon monoxide alarms to my rental property to comply with the new regulations. As these are solely for the use of the rental property, can I claim as tax deductible and if so which box on the tax return does the expense go in. Thank you.

Thank you for your question.
As long as the expenses for the hard wired smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are wholly and exclusively for use in the rental business, then both costings would be allowable revenue expenses outlined in BIM37007 here:
