Hi, I am a British citizen who lived oversea last year. As I received rental income from my property at uk, I sent back the self assessment form to HMRC. When I received the tax calculation back, I found that personal tax allowance was not applied in the calculation. I wonder that if there is a mistake as I expect that I could have £12500 tax allowance even though I was not an UK resident in 23/24 tax year. Please advice. Thank you.

Hi,
As a non resident landlord, you need to include the SA109 to claim personal allowances by ticking box 15 or 16 on the SA109. It would appear this has not been done and you can contact our Self Assessment team to have this amended.

Thank you.
