Multiple VAT Returns

We are merging with another company who are also VAT registered and we will each be using our existing accounting systems initially. Would it be possible to submit two returns for the same VAT registration number, that can be consolidated by HMRC?

We are only able to accept one VAT return submission for a return period.
As such the accounting data would need to be consolidated by yourselves first and then submitted to HMRC.
