Making existing software MTD compliant

Hi, we use an American software which is necessary for our business. They are willing to change the software to be MTD but require the information on what is required and how to go about getting approval. I have search all the Gov VAT websites and only can find recommendations of software but no information for software companies. Does anyone know of a Gov website that would have this information?
