I use linux exclusively on all my computers, and avoid closed source software for security. Where do I find MTD software for linux? Am I being forced to purchase new hardware and software for MTD? Have the MTD specifications been published so that the open source community can write proper software? Is gpg signing supported, and if not, why not? If I am forced to purchase hardware and software for MTD, is that tax deductable? I am an individual of limited means. Why can MTD not be implemented in a browser in a similar way to the current online self assessment system, so that it requires no separate software and special hardware?

Hi opensourceuser,
Details of all the accounting software available for MTD income tax are available on GOV.UK in the following link:- software suppliers for income tax
HMRC cannot recommend or endorse any one product or service over another and will not be responsible for any loss, damage, cost of expense in connection with using the software.
Thank you.
