Hello, I am Franco-british, migrated to the UK 14 years ago. I have contributed 14 years on NI. I am now 62 and, due to health condition, I had to retire end of September 2023. How can I get access to the UK State Pension? Can I buy more years to get more that 14 years contribution? would it help to have a higher pension? If so, how to do it? Best Regards Eric

Hi Armartlot Le Martret,
If you have access to your Personal Tax Account (PTA) you will be able to check your current and future entitlement to a UK State Pension.
The PTA will also show any tax years that you may pay voluntary National Insurance contributions for to improve your pension entitlement.
If you do not have a PTA you may wish to set one up via Personal tax account: sign in or set up
However, you may wish to check your State Pension via the weblink Check your State Pension forecast or by calling the Future Pension Centre on 0800 731 0175.
Thank you.

Hello, I indeed have a PTA account. I did not see on these pages any link or information related to voluntary contribution to improve my pension entitlement. Can you share the direct link? As well, one part of my question is: As I had to retire early, is there any way to get access to pension payments earlier that when I reach 67, in 4 years and a half? I am ok to contribute for that too. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hi,
There should be a link to take you to your National Insurance account which will show all the amounts of contributions that you’ve paid or been credited with.
On this screen it will also show any tax years that are not full and that you could pay some voluntary contributions for.
You may like to think about paying some voluntary contributions if you have not already have a full pension entitlement.
Information about doing this is available via:
Apply to pay voluntary Class 3 National Insurance contributions
but you should check with Future Pension Centre before doing this to ensure that it is worthwhile to pay.
It is not, unfortunately, possible to start receiving your State Pension before you reach State Pension Age.
About 3 months before you reach State Pension Age, The Pension Service will contact you to arrange for this to be set up.
Thank you.
