Hello , i'm eligible for voluntary class 2 NICs and received request for payment for FY 23/24. It does not include the so called 18-digit reference number which I understand is needed. Where or from who do I obtain this, please? Thanks Pika

Hello, For my Class 2 NICs (shortfalls and current contributions for 23/24, I have paid on - 28 May 2024, via online bank transfer to account no 12001004, sort code 08-32-20, account name “GBS re NICO Receipts HMRC” with my reference of my NI number , IC then surname and initial - 29 May 2024, via by online bank transfer to account no 30944793, sort code 20-20-48, account name “GBS re NICO Receipts HMRC” with same reference number as above Since then, I have received no correspondence, no confirmation of payment, no update of my NIC contributions nor update to my pension forecast in my HMRC online account. I wish to confirm safe receipt of payments and confirmation of update to my NIC and pension records at the earliest possible to ensure this is all rectified prior to the April 2025 cutoff. How can I obtain this and when can I expect a reply? Thank you Pika78

Hi,
You can contact our National Insurance team, and an advisor will check if your payments have been received, and provide you with a timescale for the payments to be allocated to your National Insurance records.

Hello..I have received the form showing which missing years I can pay for. I have 18 years of which 1year is class 3 and one year has two different amounts which I presume are class 2 and class 3!! Do I pay one lump sum for all the years or do I pay separately. I live in Spain and will be paying from a euro account when I pay is it automatically exchanged into Euros or do I have to send extra incase exchange rate changes. What happens if i haven't sent enough due to exchange rates or too many Euros??..

Hi Spain Uk24,
You can pay one lump sum for all 3 years, or you can pay for each year separately if you do not want to pay all 3 years.
The year with two different amounts will be a mixture of class 2 and class 3 National Insurance contributions.
If you wish to pay for that year the full amount will need to be paid, you can’t pay for part years.
You will need to contact your bank in Spain to check if your payment will be automatically exchanged into sterling.
If you were to pay too much or too little due to the exchange rate, you will be advised on what action to take once your payment is processed.
Thank you.
