I claim Job Seekers solely for my National Insurance credits. My NI record for 2022/2023 is showing as 'Your record for this year is not available yet'. When will this be updated? I asked at the Job Centre and they said they had no idea. Thank you

I’m trying to get answers to the same question as I’m due to get my state pension and once my class 1 credits are added this should change my pension amount

From my experience three years ago (waiting to see what happened for 2019/20), it took some time for the DWP to tell the NI people which credits have been applied, which in turn changes the pension forecast data. You might expect the transfer to happen around May (when P60U gets sent out), but it happens some months later. If you are not retiring this year, it's a case of sit back and wait then when it happens, it happens.

Hi Without-anE,
It is the responsibility of DWP to ensure your NI Credits are recorded on your NI record following the end of the tax year.
If you have requested a statement to NI from HMRC, it will only show up to end of 21/22 tax year.
Statements will not include 22/23 tax year until October 23 to allow full processing of the 22/23 tax year.
Please continue to check your NI record online using your Personal Tax account.
If your credits for 22/23 tax year are not recorded, please contact the Job Centre again to get them to allocate to your NI record.
Thank you.

I have been unemployed for the last 2 years and am not entitled to a Jobseekers allowance. I would like to get NI credits for my pension. How do I do this?

Hi Theresa Lynch,

Unfortunately we cannot comment on individual circumstances via this Forum.
If you are not entitled to JSA and are claiming other benefits/credits, you should contact your local Job Centre or the Office where you made any claims for benefit to confirm what/if any Credits you may be entitled to in your situation.
If you are not working and not claiming any benefits, you may apply to pay Voluntary NI contributions which count towards Basic State Pension.
You may wish to Check your State Pension position before deciding to make any voluntary NI payments.
Please visit Check your State Pension forecast ) for more information and applying for a Pension Forecast.

Thank you.

Ring the jobcentre and ask for a JSA NC1 form.

How do I get hold of my p60 u forms ?

Hi Sianadie,
A P60U is similar to a P60. It was issued by the BA/DSS and is headed Certificate of Pay and Taxable Benefit and Tax Deducted/ Refunded.
It means they have received contribution-based income that is taxable from either IS (Income support), ESA (Employment Support Allowance) or JSA (Job Support Allowance).
That in turn will have been sent to HMRC.
First point of contact would be the personal tax account. Either way it would be an official request of information from either HMRC taxes or DWP.
You could try DWP first as they essentially will be the employer. Request your personal information from the Department for Work and Pensions or call - 0800 731 0469
If you cannot get a P60 from your employer, you can either:
•    use your Personal tax account: sign in or set up to view or print the information that would be on the P60
•    Contact HMRC and ask for the information that would be on the P60
Or call the taxes helpline on - 0300 200 3300
Thank you.

I have looked at my national insurance record and it is showing a few years with little or no contribution this was when I was getting job seekers allowance. I thought you still got contributions when claiming am I mistaken or is their a problem with my record

Hi Craigpl,
For each week that you are in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance a person would receive a credit to maintain their National Insurance account for the State Pension.
If you feel that some credits are missing from your National Insurance account, please contact the Benefits Office where you made your claim and they will be able to check to see if you’ve received the correct number and if not submit further credits to your account.
Thank you.
