Trying to claim my deferred state pension

I deferred claiming my state pension for 2 years. I have now decided to claim it. (I have paid 49 full years of paid class 1 contributions). I accessed the gov.uk website and contacted state pension claim line on 08007317898. After waiting over an hour, I spoke with an agent who couldn’t tell me what my forecast was and he also said that I had contacted the wrong number! Very disappointed at the level and quality of service. Could somebody tell me what number I would contact to get a state pension forecast and also a number to claim my state pension. Thanks.

Hello HMRC Admin 20. On Monday ,I spent another 45 minutes on the phone with HMRC. Again, I was told I had come through to the wrong department. I gave the operator my exact details and situation. I am passed my state pension age. I have deferred my pension by 2 years , and I now want to claim it. The number I was given by this operative to contact was 08007317898. I asked the operative if they were absolutely certain that this was the number. They said yes. So I am back to square one as this was the original number I contacted (to which I was told was the wrong number!!) on my first enquiry….and this number contradicts your number HMRC Admin 20. Is it any wonder that confidence in HMRC is at an all time low and the level of customer service is poor. Clearly, the left had doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. All I want to do is claim my state pension to which I have paid 49 years of Class 1 National Insurance. Will anybody give me some clear, accurate advice as to who I need to contact!!! This is a disgrace!

The Pension Service should be able to help you to claim your State Pension.
