Hi , i'm 3 years short of NI contributions for the full state pension. I've looked after my grandson who's now 4 years old for the past 3 years probably on average 2 days per week. . My daughter has worked those past 3 years and has paid NI . I believe i can claim her Childcare NI Credits to boost my own for those years but at what cost to her ? She didn't need them at the time.....but could she still need them in the future or is that not how it works ? I'd hate for her to transfer them to me if her credits were lying dormant for her to use in the future for herself if needed. Thanks

Hi,
There will be no impact on your daughters record if we were to transfer the credits to yourself. If your daughter needed the credits for the tax year we would not allow a transfer.
If she does not need the credits there as she has a qualifying year through other means such as through working or claiming other benefits. Then a transfer would be awarded and it would have no impact on her record now or in future.
Thank you
