Hi there, I filled in my cf83 and recieved a letter confirming my payable gaps. Some of the rates are higher for some of the years and I'm not sure why. I had gaps where i was in Australia and ireland but have never been unemployed so hope to pay the lower rate. Is that correct, lower rate applies if you were working? I have resubmitted cf83.

Hi clairebaxter4,
To qualify for class 2 contributions, you must fulfil certain requirements.
You can check these requirements and additional details in the NI38 document available at gov.uk.
It's important to include a complete employment history with your CF83 form for the time you were overseas.
Any gaps in your employment history could result in needing to pay the higher class 3 rate for Voluntary National Insurance Contributions.
If you find any gaps in the employment history section on the form you submitted, please fill out a new CF83 form with the corrected information as soon as you can.
Thank you.

In relation to my query, I have already sent a letter do I also need to resubmit the form, bearing in mind the periods of employment are before 2018. Thank you

Hi,
You should check out NI38 (Social Security Abroad) to determine if you fulfil all the necessary criteria to qualify for class 2 payment rates.
If you still believe you should be eligible for the class 2 rate, please submit a new application along with a cover letter detailing your circumstances.
If you need more assistance, contact our National Insurance team below.

Thank you.

Hi Sharon2,
I am unsure what further information we can supply.
You can send a new CF83 application with all employments requesting a review of the decision again to request to pay Class 2.
Thank you.
