I am currently living in the USA, and looking to pay for additional missed years. I cannot access my gateway as my name changed, how do I go about changing my name to access gateway, and pay for previous missed years of NI contributions?

Hi stark316 stark,
To pay voluntary National Insurance contributions whilst overseas please read our leaflet Social Security abroad: NI38 and then if you do wish to pay them then complete and return the CF83 application form.  The NI38 & CF83 application form are available via the above link.
By completing the CF83 application form we will also be able to update your National Insurance account with your name change.
I hope that this is OK.
Thank you.

Will this also resolve my gateway access as I cannot access as my passport no longer matches? I need to know how many years I currently have paid ? Can I only pay for the past 6 years or can I go back further? What do you need for the name change?

Hi stark316 stark,
When you complete the CF83 application form you would put your current name at question 1 and your former name at question 4.
We will be able to update your National Insurance account to reflect your current name which will then automatically update your Personal Tax Account,
so you should then be able to access it.
Your Personal Tax Account will confirm the number of tax years that you already have paid for and will also show any shortfalls of voluntary contributions
from the 2006-2007 tax year.
When you receive a reply from our International Team they will also quote the number of tax years that you have and also detail the voluntary contributions that
you may pay for and how you may pay them.
Thank you.
