Hi, I don't work but have had about £10 k to £12 k income from renting a residential property and declared the income by Self Assesment form in the last few years. The income has been below tax threshold for most years so I paid very little tax. My National Insurance Contribution shows few years gap for the years I had some income and filed Self Assessment. Should I pay Voluntary National Insurance Contribution for the above years or the above years is a part of my NI contribution. If it is a part of NIC why my records show NIC gap for these years? Thanks

Hi Shokrs2 Shokri,
You can contact the national insurance helpline to discuss the gaps in your national insurance and how to pay voluntary as self-assessment only does not
cover your national insurance for pension purposes.
With a Personal tax account you can use the webchat services or call:
Number - 0300 200 3500
Overseas - +44 191 203 7010
Open - Monday to Friday: 8am to 6pm - Closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Thank you.
