Hi, I am having trouble verifying my ID to change the name associated with my National Insurance number following my marriage. I am having trouble at the ID verification stage whether attempting the process online or using the App. I am consistently receiving an error message saying that my ID cannot be verified. I believe that this is due to the name on my national insurance record still being in my maiden name whilst the documents I am using to try to prove my ID are now in my married name (Passport, Drivers Licence). I can totally understand why the system is struggling here as essentially those two pieces of ID (NI records and Passport/Drivers Licence) do not match - but how do I change the NI records when the only ID I have now uses my married surname? I cannot use the helpline, but I have found a form (CA5403). Would this work in this instance? Would I need to attach a copy of my ID and/or marriage certificate? Any help would be appreciated. Zoe

Hi Zee90,
I note that you are unable to contact us via our National Insurance Helpline so if you could complete our form CA5403 Your National Insurance number) and then provide us with some documents (as detailed on the web page) then we’ll be able to update your National Insurance account and you’ll be able to access your Personal Tax Account.
Thank you.
