I'm due to receive my state pension on 1st Nov 2024. My pension estimate based on last year was £216.31 and is forecast to be the full amount (£221.20) if I pay a full years contribution up to April 2024. I only worked irregular part-time last year so not sure if I will have paid enough NI to qualify. The advice says NI record up to 5th April 2024 won't be available until October. Will this be too late for me to pay for an additional year if I need to? Is there a way I can find out earlier? Thank You

Hi simon field,
You will still be able to pay this after October.
However, you can contact the National Insurance helpline now, and an advisor will be able to check your National Insurance records to see if your employment has been recorded yet, and if it has they will be able to advise you what the shortfall to pay, would be for that year.
You can call them on 0300 200 3500, lines are open from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
Thank you.
