Hi, Given the delays in resolving the numerous requests to pay back NIC contributions and also to allocate these NIC contributions to the relevant NI number, is there any plan to extend the deadline beyond 5th April 2025? I ask this because I have paid 18 years of contributions in April of 2024, and it has still not been allocated to my account. Initially I was told 30 weeks from April for allocation of contributions. Last time I called the helpline in Dec 2024 they said it would be 52 weeks from the previous time I had called in August 2024 , so August 2025. I am also aware of other people who have just submitted their CF83 form in August 2024 and are awaiting a response. Will they get a response? If the response if after the 5th April, what happens then? I don't think it can all be resolved by the 5th April 2025. And I'm sure its causing a lot of headaches in the HMRC team trying to respond with to the various questions from customers. It would seem only fair to all involved that this deadline is extended. Thank you for reading.

My understanding is that provided you can prove you pid before the April 2025 deadline you will be OK. I "only" paid mine 6 months ago, I thought that was bad enough, but 9-10 months!! This delay has only ever gone up, 20 week, then 29, now 52. Shocking service.

I've finally got through to a v nice person on the phone ('only' on hold for 30 mins) and after helping with my query, I asked if he thought the 5th April deadline might be extended. He said it was highly unlikely, since the date was already put back from 2023. Scandalous.

Same old story! I’ve paid 42yrs full contribution, I retired at 55yrs I checked out my state pension progress online and found 8 yrs gaps, I spoke with DWP they couldn’t give me an answer I need to speak with HMRC, OMG! believe it or not they couldn’t either. I thought 35yrs full NI contributions was enough to earn full state pension, clearly not, to pay voluntary NI contributions to the missed years they say I’ve missed will equate to 49ys full NI contributions. Not one person can clarify my reasonable question of “please someone explain”

Hi classwho,
Providing that we receive your query before 5 April 2025, then we will not penalise you for our delays. When we do reply to you, even after 5 April 2025, then we will use the rates in force when we received your query when calculating any shortfalls of voluntary National Insurance contributions. You will then be given extra time to make any shortfalls that you may wish.
Thank you.

Can you verify "how much extra time" (How many weeks) is given to pay the national insurance voluntary contributions once the CF83 has been processes?
