Hello, I need to apply for an A1 certificate confirming that I will pay UK National Insurance when working temporarily abroad; so I need to submit form CA3822; the guidance page (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/tell-hmrc-about-employees-going-to-work-in-the-european-economic-area-ca3822) says explicitly: "Before you start Your employer must have confirmation from HMRC that their business is eligible to apply for a certificate. Your employer can ask HMRC to confirm their eligibility using form CA3821. We will only need to confirm their eligibility once." It seems the current processing time for each application is between 1-3 months; please could you clarify whether these two forms can be submitted and the applications processed simultaneously? Will it delay the process to submit the CA3822 before my employer submits the CA3821? Does the CA3821 application need to be approved before the CA3822 application can even be submitted? Thank you for your help

Hi,
The correct form to complete when employed in the UK and self employed abroad would be the CA8421, you can find this online at:-
Apply for a certificate to confirm you pay UK National Insurance when working in 2 or more countries (CA8421)
Thank you.
