Hi HMRC, I am holding BNO visa. I have an employment for a Hong Kong company. My employer does not have any business and no office in UK. I worked from home in UK. Please advise do I need to pay NI. Thanks. Vicki

Hi,
If you could call our Employer Helpline then they will be able to arrange for you to pay your own National Insurance contributions whilst you are employed in the United Kingdom for an overseas employer.
Their telephone number is:  0300 200 3200.
Thank you.

Hi HMRC, Thanks for your quick response. However, I already have a pension scheme for this Hong Kong employment regulated by Hong Kong law. The company payroll is in Hong Kong. There will be double counted on the pension scheme. Therefore, please advise if it is mandatory to contribute NI in UK. Thanks, Vicki

Hi,
As you are employed in the United Kingdom our Employers Helpline will be able to advise whether there is liability for you to pay UK National Insurance contributions.
Thank you.
