I had a shortfall in my N.I.. contributions which would have resulted in my obtaining less than the full state pension amount. I am a landlord with a couple of small properties which are rented out via a letting agent. I spoke to an advisor at HMRC to ask whether I was eligible to pay voluntarily Class 2 or Class 3 contributions to make good the shortfall. I explained I was a landlord and ask if I could pay class 2 . I was told this would be possible and I paid the requisite amount. I am now in receipt of full pension and my NI contributions are showing full years. I am a little concerned as my accountant on filling in my self assessment has informed me that I should have paid class 3. I don’t want to be accepting full pension benefits if I have not paid the full amount. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Hi,
Unfortunately it is not possible to check individual records through this forum May I ask that you call our National Insurance Helpline on 0300 200 3500 (from the UK) or +44 191 203 7010 (from overseas) and they will be able to check your National Insurance account.
Thank you.
