I am looking for advice on how to make a payment of Class 2 contributions from the USA. I have received details of the missing years and payment amounts from HMRC. The only option for payment method appears to send a cheque to HMRC. As I live in the US - do I need to send a personal cheque in GBP or can I send a USD equivalent from my US Bank account..? Do I need to send a cashier's check in GBP..? Note - I do not have a UK bank account. There does not appear to be an online option to pay from the USA. Trying to confirm best way to make a payment. I have been trying to get through to the listed HMRC contact number +44 191 203 7010 and I ALWAYS get a busy tone with my calls. Is this number still active..???

Hi Stephen Conroy,
Please see further information on how to pay voluntary National Insurance contributions from abroad here;
Pay Class 2 National Insurance if you do not pay through Self Assessment:
Make an online or telephone bank transfer
There is information on how to pay from an overseas bank account under the heading ‘Paying from an overseas bank account’. Your reference number would be your National Insurance number, followed by IC then your surname and initial.
If you want to pay by cheque, you should send this in sterling, made payable to:
‘National Insurance Contributions & Employer office’
With a covering letter to the following address:
National Insurance Contributions & Employer Office
HM Revenue & Customs
England
BX5 5BD
The National Insurance helpline contact number +44 191 203 7010 is still in use.
This line can be very busy.
Thank you.

Stephen I am in EXACTLY the same situation as you...it is so FRUSTRATING. I do not know how or where to send the cheque.

Gary, I went ahead and sent a Wire Transfer from my US Bank account to the Account details listed in the "Make a online or telephone bank transfer" - paying from an overseas bank account" The transfer was in GBP so I could ensure the correct amount was being paid. Unfortunately - this payment now goes into somewhat of a black hole until I see the change to my NIC record online. Judging from the feedback from users on this forum this could take several months to show up! For sending a cheque see the details listed above by the Admin.
