I applied on 14th November 2023 for an A1 Certificate to confirm that I will pay UK National Insurance while undertaking self-employed short-term teaching work in multiple countries over a period of one year, in Italy, Belgium, Austria, Portugal, Switzerland and Ireland and Estonia. I have still not received the A1 form and two foreign employers are now withholding fees until the A1 is received. I understand there is a Brexit backlog and that HMRC agents are working hard to clear it, but at the moment my earnings are threatened and future international employment less likely due to these taxation problems. The A1 help phone lines are continuously returning an 'unable to take you call' message, whatever day and time of day you call. Can you update me on when I might receive the A1 form and be able to be paid for work already done? With thanks, Jonathan

Hi

Depending on how you applied for your A1 would affect the time scales.

If you applied online we are currently working on applications received around the 31st of October.  If you applied by post we are working on items recieved around 23rd of April 2023.

Thanks
