I live in portugal more than 183 days, but still come to the uk to work for a uk employer. At the moment I'm being taxed in portugal and uk. I was told by hmrc to fill in some forms as the uk shouldn't tax me, at least not as much, yet I received a reply saying that uk will continue to tax me as I'm an employee for a uk employer. Portugal says I'm resident in portugal therefore I should pay taxes in portugal. What do I do now?

Hi

If the UK employer is classed as a government employer (council, civil service)  then it remains taxable in the UK. if not, you would need to telephone in order to give your details for your record to be accessed for a definitive answer on +44 13 5535 9022.

Thank you
