I accidentally paid into two cash ISAs in the last tax year. I called the HMRC helpline in may of this year when I realised my mistake, They said they would contact me by post with the next steps, I haven't heard anything thus far. When is it likely that HMRC will make contact? I'm waiting on their response before I do anything with my current ISA allowance

Hi
You should contact the provider of the the second cash ISA and inform them of this error.
They will close down the second ISA and refund the money paid into it to you.

Hello, I went through something similar. I transfer money to a second ISA account during the 2023 tax year. I contacted both providers, and they told me to contact HMRC to disclose this issue. I sent an email to HMRC, but I have not received a response. I withdrew the investment from my second provider a few days later when I realized my mistake. What should I do?

Hi Tomas Eduardo Sanchez Valenzuela

HMRC dont correspond by email. the matter will be reviewed automatically after the end of the tax year 6/4/24 and you will be contacted in due course.

Thank you
