Hi, I currently earn around £60k. I pay into the police pension scheme which they take 13.44% prior to tax. With allowances taken into consideration, this equates to about £7k, meaning my taxable pay is £53,000. Does this mean I am liable to pay 30% of the child benefit back or am I calculating this incorrectly? Thanks

Hi JamesB10216

If the pension contributions are taken from your salary before the tax is calculated then you have already received the relief for the pension contributions and the higher income chil benefit charge will be based on your P60 pay figure.

Thank you
