I transferred my UK pension to a QROPS scheme in 2014 whilst living in Australia. In 2016 inreturn to the UK and then back to Australia in 2023. I want to consolidate my qrops to my other non qrops funds here in Australia. Once the 10 years have passed from date of transfer am I right in thinking that transfer wouldn't need to be reported to hmrc and I wouldn't be hit with a tax charge.

Hi,
As you returned to the UK in 2016, you have not met the rules of being non UK resident for 5 years so it is likely that you will still be liable.
Thank you.

As I am now in Australia and no plan ro return this time in 20 years when I access the qrops fund will I have met the 5 years continuous residency requirement before withdrawing.

Does the 5 years start again now I've returned to Australia?

Hi Nicholas,
If you were back in the UK at any point within the first 5 years of moving the pension then yes.
Thank you.
