Hello If I am gifted shares in a private company from a parent that pays regular dividends, am I able to make regular cash payments back to the parent which are equal to the after tax income I receive from the dividends? I am a higher rate tax payer in the scenario above. The shares also currently qualify for business relief, if shares were to be sold would there be any inheritance tax implications if further regular payments were made back to the parent?

Hi,
That is a personal choice but no tax relief would be given on these cash payments.
We cannot comment on future events as legislation and/or plans may change.
Thank you.
