I am a psychotherapist just starting out as self-employed. I attend personal therapy regularly as part of my professional development. I have heard that I can claim personal therapy as a business expense and offset tax against it, is this correct? As it's professional development. If so, what documents would I need to get from my therapy clinic? Thank you

Hi,
You can only claim expenses that are wholly, necessarily and exclusively incurred in the performance of your duties and as such, the costs you refer to are not allowable. You can see guidance here:
Expenses if you're self-employed
Thank you.
