Hi, I am William. I moved to UK from HK in Nov 2023. I am retired and no job. I have savings interest income in UK bank and rental income of a buy-to-let property in UK. I want to inquire as follow: - 1. I am tax residence or not in 2023-2024? or I will be tax residence until 2024-2025? 2. If the above is Yes, do I have the Personal allowance of £12,570? or I will have the Personal allowance of £12,570 if I am employed? 3. How much saving interest allowance do I have? £5,000?(starting rate for savings) £1,000?(personal savings allowance) or £6,000?( £5,000+ £1,000) Thanks.

Hi Wai Nang Chin,
You would be taxable on your world-wide income from the date you arrived in the UK and for the full tax year in 2024 to 2025.You will be entitled to claim a Personal Allowance in 2023 to 2027.
Your savings interest allowance is determined by the level of your income.
Please have a look here:
Tax on savings interest
As you have rental income from a UK property, you will need to register for Self Assessment to report the gross income and expenses.
You can register for Self Assessment here:
https://www.gov.uk/register-for-self-assessment.
Thank you.

Hi Wai Nang Chin,
You will not have the personal tax allowance (PA)  for tax 23/24.
You will be able to claim the PA after that if you are a UK resident.
Thank you.
