Hi I bought £20000 child premium bond to my daughter last year spending my savings when she was 15. But this year I need £10000 to buy a property and she(now 16) is happy to pay that money back to me. My question is if this is considered as a gift from my daughter to me and if so, if I (or she ) will need to pay a gift tax for this payment. Please let me know. Thank you for your help!

Hi Tomoko,

There are no income tax implications on the receipt of a cash gift unless the cash gift generates interest or dividends.
These would then potentially be subject to tax.
Further guidance can be found here Tax on savings interest and Tax on dividends.

Thank you.
