I am enrolled in a workplace pension that operates on the Relief at Source principle, the scheme automatically claims the basic rate tax relief and adds to my pension. I was recently advised that being a higher rate taxpayer I can claim relief on the higher rate tax I pay. I am just not sure if this is true as the the pension scheme operates as Qualified Earnings. I have been through to the PAYE helpline and the self assessment helpline and have not been able to get a straight answer. Any help appreciated.
