Tax on Foreign Life Insurance Policy (beneficiary, death of policy holder)

Hello, I am the beneficiary of 1/4 of my grandfather's French life insurance policy. While I am a UK tax resident, he was not. I am uncertain how to declare this income on my self assessment (as it's a lump sum, one off payment, and I was not a policy holder only a beneficiary of the policy). Thank you!
