Hi All. Is income tax estimate in your online tax account always correct? The only reason I ask is because I was checking my payslip from my employer, and year to date (financial year) it says I have paid just over £2,800 PAYE Tax. In my online tax account it says for the 2023 year my estimated income tax amount is £1,600. So would I be due a refund on this if overpaid? I am not entirely sure how it works.

Hi

As an estimnate it will be based on the estimated income for the tax year. At the tax year end once HMRC receives your pay and tax details we will review your record and if overpaid a calculation will be issued to you with details of how to claim the refund.

Thank you
