Dear HMRC, I have a SIPP opened in 2009 when I was a UK resident and have never made any withdrawal. In 2017, I moved on a permanent basis from the UK to Switzerland where I vape been a permanent resident since then. Now Im 56 years old. I intend to withdraw the tax free 25% lump sum from my SIPP in 2024. I understand from the double tax treaty UK / Switzerland tis will be taxed in the UK as any further income drawdown the I may do in the future. My question is, do I have after having done the 25% withdrawal, the opportunity of transferring the remaining assets to a Swiss, HMRC recognised QROP? and will this trigger any tax liability in the UK either at the moment of the transfer or when recovered? Thank you and kind regards, Fg

Hi,

For an answer to a detailed question of this nature, you would need to contact both pension providers, to ensure that what you propose is possible and whether it will be taxable.
Please have a look at the guidance here Transferring your pension
and Overseas pensions: pension transfers.

Thank you

Thank you, But my question is more the following, once I have withdrawn from the SIPP the 25% tax free lump sum, will the transfer of the remaining 75% trigger any UK tax if transferred into a QROPS? Of course provided the usual rules fro QROPS apply (residence in same country, 5 years, etc) Best fg
