Hi there - got quite a complicated question but hoping to see if I can get any answers. I currently earn around £59,500 including a yearly bonus - my wife claims child benefit for our family. We have two disabled children (both receiving child DLA) and my wife claims carer's allowance as she stays at home to look after them. I have a work pension which comes off my salary automatically, I also pay additional voluntary contributions towards my pension from my net wages - I then file a tax return every year to calculate how much child benefit that we need to pay back. I have been advised that we may be entitled to some Universal Credit - will both amounts I pay towards my pension be disregarded for this calculation (the amount I pay before tax and the additional contributions I pay after tax?) Thanks.
