Good evening, I have been living in the UK since 2018 - first studying in 2018, and then working since 2019. I have obtained a letter of confirmation of residence from HMRC for the period since I started working. However I also need this letter to cover the period during which I was living in the UK without any income (2018), which HMRC has no record of. I was studying full-time and spent >183 days of the 2018 year in the UK, so I should definitely be a UK tax resident during that period, but I am struggling to get proof of this, which the tax authority in my home country requires. How can I obtain this? Can I submit evidence to HMRC of having lived in the UK since 2018, and receive the CoR including that period? Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,

If you hold any evidence that you were in the UK for the period that we are not aware of, you would need to send this to us to review. Only when this is received, would we be able to confirm if we can issue a COR. The address to write to is:

HMRC,
PAYE & Self Assessment,
BX9 1AS

Thank you.
