Hello, I'm leaving the UK. My last day of employment will be tomorrow 30 November. Employer has provided P45. What should I do next? Filling the P85 form? Before or leaving the country? Should I then also complete the ‘resident’ section (form SA109) when doing my self assessment for the FY 2023/2024?

Hi Aldo Zavarella,
While it does depend on why you're leaving the UK, with an Self Assessment record you would usually only complete the SA109.
You can find more information here:
Tax if you leave the UK to live abroad
Or contact us at:
Self Assessment: general enquiries
To discuss what you specifically would need to complete.
Thank you.

I'll be going to work somewhere else. Should I still fill the P85? Should I do it before or after leaving the country?

Goof Afternoon I was informed that I would have been informed no later than the 01 Dec about my 2022-2023 tax year. I have recieved no email or letter and its still showing that my tax year has still not been calculated. Very soon it will be 2024. Regards Graham English

Hi Aldo
You can complete the P85 form before you leave the UK, for example once you have a confirmed leaving date.
You can do this online at Get your Income Tax right if you're leaving the UK (P85), which will be faster than printing off the completed form and posting it HMRC.

Hello, I was working in UK between 2000 and 2003. Can you tell me if I can claim taxes back or inform me about my options? Thanks

Hi Giordano,
Sorry no, these years are now out of date for review as we can only go back 4 years.
Thank you.
