Hi I am looking for some advice. I am looking at applying for the remote working visa which is a 12 month Visa in Dubai. I am employed by a UK company, and will continue this employment whilst working from Dubai. I will still be paying UK tax and NI via PAYE as normal. Do I have to pay any further taxes than this and do I need to consider any non residency rules, I.e how often can I return in the year to visit family? Secondly, my partner has been offered a job by an employer in Dubai who will be sponsoring his visa. He will continue to make voluntary National Insurance contributions to ensure state pension is up to date. But can you explain whether he needs to apply for anything to prevent getting taxed on his Dubai earnings when we return to the UK? And how often he’d be able to return in the year? Thanks

Hi Lauren Allison,

Please refer to guidance at Living or working abroad or offshore: detailed information.
You will need to consider if you are tax resident in the UK or not by checking your status. A link is included in the above.

Thank you.
