A couple of years ago I claimed carers allowance. This was added to my HMRC tax account record quickly, as income without *me* doing anything. When I stopped claiming carers allowance it was removed, again without *me* doing anything. I assumed this was a prcoess between the carers allowance team and HMRC. My wife started claiming carers allowance 6 months ago but it hasn't yet been added to her HMRC tax record record as income. After my experience I assumed this was an automatic process between Gov Departments? Should she continue to wait for it to appear as an income or does she need to notify HMRC directly herself? We are both on PAYE and dont self access. Thanks you Neil Carr.

Hi, If your wife's carer's allowance hasn't appeared on her record at this point, request that she contact us by webchat or phone via:
Income Tax: general enquiries
and we can check her record.
Thank you.
