I have several ISAs and money I have been moving around in several different banks and took my eye off the ball a bit. Now I can’t remember if I have opened a cash ISA for this year or not? Does HM tax keep some kind of record of my cash ISAs that I can check? I can’t check with bank as don’t know which bank I might have used.

The rules were changed at the start of this year to say that you can open as many isas as like. So you can open 10 cash isas this year if you'd like. Still on 20k a year though across all over them

Thanks very much for the reply. However my question is that I want to check if I have already taken one out this year and used up my allowance for the year, not about the number of ISAs

Hi Problema,
If you opened one, you will have paperwork from the relevant bank to confirm and should only contact HMRC as a last resort.
Thank you.

Hi,
We cannot advise you of this.  This is something you will need to take up with your ISA providers.
Thank you.
