I have dual citizenship from Spain and UK. I work in the UK full-time and I pay my taxes in the UK. My dad only has a Spanish citizenship and lives in Spain. He wants to donate me a house that he owns. Are there any tax implications for a donation of this kind?

Hi

Not for you unless the house then starts to generate any income by way of rental or selling. Your dad however should check with the Spanish tax authorities.

Thank you

Just to clarify, the house that he wants to donate me is in Spain. Am I right to say that your reply assumes this? Furthermore, if after being donated, the house then started to generate any income by way of rental or selling, the tax implications would be solely related to these actions and not to the fact the the house got donated? Would this be correct? Thank you
