Hi, I have recently updated my passport with a new surname to reflect recently getting married. The main page of my passport says [Firstname] [Oldsurname]-[Husband's surname] I also have an official observation that states 'The holder is also known as [First name] [Oldsurname]' - so both names are valid For professional purposes I continue to use [First name] [Oldsurname], including for all of my bank accounts. Do I need to update HMRC to state the change of name to [Firstname] [Oldsurname]-[Husband's surname]? If so, how do I update to ensure HMRC knows both names are used?

Hi Emma A,

The best way to do this would be to contact our helpline to explain it Income Tax: general enquiries

Thank you.
