I have some unused pension contributions that I would like to make. The unused allowance relates to tax year 23/24, to top it up to my earnings amount, but below £60K. But I would like to make a contribution against this in tax year 24/25. Would I claim the tax relief in my tax return self assessment for year 23/24 once I have made the contribution, or in my 24/25 return?

Hi ,

Tax relief is only available in the tax year the payment is made so in your case it will be 24/25 .

Thank you .
