Hello, I will be working for a US company (paid in USD) on cruise liner based in the Caribbean for 8 months out of a 12 (in an annual cycle) but likely for more than 12 months (hopefully that makes sense). I am uncertain if I would need to self declare. The Company have advised it's my responsibility to determine what income tax should be paid in line with your home countries guidance. Is anyone able to advise?

Hi,
Please refer to Seafarers Earnings Deduction: tax relief if you work on a ship and associated links
Thank you.

If you are UK resident, you would need to declare your worldwide earnings through self-assessment but you would have the potential to claim Seafarers Earnings Deduction to reduce or eliminate your liability for tax
