I have recently received a refund from HMRC and the HMRC website says they pay interest at 1% below base rate. But I have not received any interest which I estimate to be about £80. Does anyone know why the HMRC did not pay interest? Or perhaps how to submit a claim to get the interest paid?

Which tax year was the refund for? If it's an income tax refund interest is only paid for any tax repayment made after 31 January after the end of the tax year. So at the moment it is too early for interest to be paid for a 2022-23 refund.

Hi ralzarsi

If you contact the department that issued the repayment we can look into this. Details can be found here Contact HMRC

Thank you
